Traing week!

Hello Everyone!

This week six team members from SOLAR are at Esrange space center in Kiruna for the rexus/bexus traning week. During the week the team will attend to several lectures to learn a lot about software, hardware and electronics desing and other important parameters when working with this kind of project. It is also time to present our preliminary design that we have worked really hard with since we were selected for the rexus campaign. We will also be able to discuss our experiment in detail with the experts, which we find very interesting and exciting.

Best Regards!

SED Deadline

Hi!

Today the entire team is working on the last details on the SED. The report has been reviewed by some experts since monday and now we are taking their comments in consideration.

Best of luck to the other REXUS/BEXUS teams with the finishing of their SEDs!

Preliminary Design

Hello!
Because the deadline for our first version of the SED (Student Experiment Documentation) is tomorrow. We feel like it is time to show you our new design that we have been working hard with since the selection week at ESTEC. This design allows us to simulate a "real" soldering process much better. Another important advantage is that the cooling process becomes easier. The idea is to use two springs. One to push the PCB-card and the solder joints in contact to the solder tips. When the joint have melted the second spring will pull the solder tips out of contact with the joints. To make this work we vill use nylon thread to fix the springs and niccrome wire to cut the thread and release the springs.
The three pictures below show these three stages in the soldering process (without the aluminum housing)

The picture below shows an overview of our experiment module with an illustrative glass housing

Forgot to say...

Forgot to say that we're also official at Facebook and Twitter now! Project SOLAR at Facebook and @SOLARrexus at Twitter.

Otherwise the work continues with lots of writing on our SED, design, simulations and search for components and mechanical elements.

Website

Hello everyone!

SOLAR has opened an official website where you can find more information about the project and we who are working with it. The webadress is http://www.solar.rymdteknik.com/. We hope you enjoy it and please tell us by comments or mail if there is anything you wonder.

Right now we're writing alot on the first version of our SED (student experiment documentation). We've also just finished the work with our new design, which allows us to emulate a real soldering much better.

Best regards!
